Every Child TN Launch – WKRN Nashville News

State officials introduce ‘Every Child TN’ initiative to increase the number of foster families.

Nashville news station WKRN covered the official launch of Every Child TN, as a state wide foster care initiative that invites community members to make a difference for children and families impacted by foster care.

Every Child TN is a joint initiative of TN Department of Children’s Services (DCS) and the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based Initiative (GFBCI) with a mission of making it easier than ever to understand the opportunities available for people to get involved with foster care.

The need across the country for more homes for children in foster care and more support for those impacted is high. In Tennessee, there are around 8,000 children in the foster care system and only about 5,000 available homes.

WKRN talked to Lance Villio, Executive Director of GFBCI about the initiative:

“There’s a real opportunity there for individuals to raise their hand and say, ‘Yes,’ and not to just say yes to children but also to teens and youth.”
